A thank-you
note for funders, sponsors
and community partners who
have believed in us over the
years:
Opportunities Waterloo Region was originally
known as Opportunities 2000 or OP2000. It was created as a community-based
poverty reduction project sponsored by the Lutherwood Community Opportunities
Development Association (CODA, now Lutherwood).
It all started with a
community project fund of $1.1 million provided by Human Resources
Development Canada. Soon after, a number of charitable
foundations and private businesses provided the core funding for OP2000.
The Atkinson Charitable Foundation, Royal Bank Financial Group, J. W.
McConnell Family Foundation and Brock Solutions Inc put their faith
in OP2000 from the start. Specialists from the Caledon Institute of
Social Policy donated their time and expertise by becoming our partner for
the research and communication portion of the project.
Other members of our
community were quick to follow their footsteps and every one of them have helped
to further our cause on poverty prevention and reduction in the Waterloo
Region. Their support has been invaluable, especially during the
development of the second phase of OP2000 and its transformation to
Opportunities Waterloo Region.
