Other Innovative Community Projects and Initiatives:


The Waterloo Region Community Gardening Network
A network composed of garden facilitators, gardeners, and representatives from community agencies that promote food security.


Task Force on Modernizing Income Security for Working- Age Adults (MISWAA) -

A multi-stakeholder task force to generate ideas and drive to practical improvements to the economic security of lower-income adults.

 

BarterWorks
Members trade goods and services through the exchange of barter currency or a combination of barter currency and Canadian dollars.

 

The Bridges
A permanent 20,000 sq. ft. facility with a drop-in centre, a 40-bed shelter and 20 transitional housing units.

 

Foodlink Waterloo Region
Promotes the sale and consumption of locally grown and produced food.  

 

GROW Herbal Gardens
This Working Centre project provides people with a garden of therapy and enterprise, and with the training and skills necessary to maintain it.

 

Leadership Waterloo Region
Helps participants acquire a fuller sense of the wide array of critical issues affecting our community and the leadership skills necessary to motivate and engage others in collaborative efforts to resolve them.

 

Moving Forward Together
Record and assess all the strengths and challenges that exist in Cambridge and North Dumfries in order to understand the level of resources that exist and the new and continuing needs of these communities.

 

The People's Car Co-op
Waterloo Region's not-for-profit, membership-based car sharing co-operative.

 

The Rural Think Tank 2005: Understanding issues families face living in rural and remote communities
A research project designed to investigate rural issues as they relate to CAPC and CPNP projects specifically.

 

The Urban Agriculture Project of The Working Centre
Provides individuals and groups with the tools they need to produce food in an urban setting.

 

Worth a Second Look Furniture and Housewares
A retail outlet whose goal is to provide the community with low-cost used furniture and houseware items while keeping reusable goods out of landfills and creating opportunities for employment.
